PlasticsPlastics

More than 50% of e-Xstream’s software and service revenues are generated in the plastics industry.e-Xstream have the material and industry expertise and the DIGIMAT technology to address the modeling needs of plastic material and plastic parts suppliers.
Our customers are spread over the entire value chain of the plastics industry from major plastic producers and their OEM customers and their 1st tier suppliers in the automotive, aeronautical, consumer and industrial goods.

DIGIMAT is used for modeling thermoplastics (e.g. PA, PP, PC, POM, PPA, …) and thermosets (Epoxy, Polyurethane, …) reinforced with short, long or continuous glass and/or carbon fibers as well as any type of micro or nano size fillers (glass beads, talc, …).

  • DIGIMAT-MF is used as a “numerical material lab machine” to predict the thermo mechanical properties (E, CTE, Stress-strain curve,…) of a reinforced plastic “material point” that is equivalent to a material test sample like an ASTM tension test dumble. It uses Eshelby’s Mean Filed homogenization methods to model a plastic matrix assumed to behave as a linear, nonlinear and rate-dependent material models, reinforced with any number of linear or nonlinear inclusion phase like a fibers, fillers or other polymer phase.
  • DIGIMAT-FE is also used as “numerical material lab machine” to predict the linear and nonlinear behavior of a reinforced plastics with a focus on the microstructure.

  • DIGIMAT to CAE is used to model the warpage, vibration, stiffness, creep, relaxation and the strength of plastic parts subject to quasi-static or crash type of loading conditions.
  • MAP is used to map fiber orientation, residual stresses and temperature from injection molding mesh to the structural FEA mesh.

DIGIMAT is interfaced to major injection molding analyses software like Moldflow®, Sigmasoft® and Moldex3D®. DIGIMAT software suite and multi-scale modeling process bridges the gap between injection molding and the final performance of the plastic parts.

Close collaborative project with major plastic suppliers and part producers has been driving the development and the validation of DIGIMAT since the start-up of e-Xstream. This is what makes DIGIMAT the most effective and efficient tool for the predictive design of plastic materials and parts.
