Quick Start engineering Projects

A Quick Start project will provide you with an e-Xstream consultant at your side to accelerate the returns on your software investment. The consultant will help you to install and configure the Digimat software for your environment, and provide general instruction for your staff in using the software in your product development process.


Knowledge Transfer

The e-Xstream Engineering Services team will perform engineering work for you and then use it as a basis for transferring the necessary knowledge to your staff. It can consist of material characterization and calibration, or as well of structural finite element (FE) simulation work accounting for the process-related local composite microstructure. We do this through a step-by-step approach of training your team on the process we used to setup, perform and post process your material or structural engineering work. This ensures your teams are ready to successfully apply those calibration and simulation methods to future projects.


Mentoring - on-site or over the web

The e-Xstream Engineering Services team provides mentoring services to our customers using Digimat and MSC software or 3rd party CAE products. The mentoring can be on-site, where one of our specialists comes to your office for a period of time to provide support, or over the web using webex with one of our expert consultants.


On-site Consulting

On-site consulting can be a true life saver when you are in a situation where it is imperative that an expert be available at your facility when needed for either a short period of time, or the entire length of a design project which can sometimes be weeks, months or even years. You can always count on the e-Xstream Services team to provide the flexibility to work with you whenever you are in a situation of needing on-site support. We have a team of experts across many engineering disciplines and industries, as well as in-depth knowledge of Digimat, the MSC software products and all 3rd party CAE products.


Staff Augmentation

The e-Xstream Engineering Services team can become an extension of your team, and provide on-site resources to augment your current staff. We will work with you to assign an industry expert to your staff and work hand-in-hand with the team until the project is completed and you are satisfied with the results.


Structural Simulation Projects

If you only need to infrequently carry out structural simulations coupled to process simulation results such as fiber/ply orientation and that involves the use of the Digimat software, or if you feel that your engineers aren’t mature enough to accomplish specific simulation projects involving the use of the Digimat technology, the e-Xstream Engineering Services team offers Simulation Projects and consulting to tackle your toughest problems. Our services team will work with you to understand your goals and your design problem first. Once we know what you are trying to accomplish, we will gather the necessary data from you, such as CAD or FE models, physical test data, materials data, and then run your simulation for you.


Material Characterization Projects

If you need to carry out composite testing campaigns and/or calibrate Digimat material models only infrequently, or if your engineers don’t feel comfortable enough handling these themselves, the e-Xstream Engineering Services team offers Material Characterization Projects to tackle composites testing and/or modeling for a wide variety of requirements, from basic quasi-static problems to dynamic/impact ones including failure, as well as more challenging ones such as fatigue and creep/relaxation characterizations. Our services team will work with you to understand your goals and your characterization needs first. Once we know what you are trying to accomplish, we will coordinate the whole testing campaign (if included in the project), using our best-in-class testing partners, and we will calibrate the requested Digimat material models upon reception of all input test data.


In-Depth Material Investigation Projects

The e-Xstream Engineering Services team offers expertise to carry out in-depth material investigations primarily involving the Digimat software Digimat-FE. Thanks to the detailed Representative Volume Elements (RVE) Digimat-FE generates, e-Xstream supports you in better understanding microstructural effects over the mechanical properties of a material (e.g. stiffness and strength) as well as on the thermal and electrical properties of composites. Multiple microscopic factors and phenomena can be studied, such as the filler content, the filler orientation in the RVE, the clustering effect, the influence of a coating embedding the fillers, etc… Our services team will work with you to understand your goals and your design problem first. Once we know what you are trying to accomplish, we will gather the necessary material and physical test data from you, then generate the RVEs and simulate their mechanical, thermal or electrical behavior.


Methods Development

e-Xstream Engineering Services experts evaluate your simulation needs and work with your staff to determine how to use Digimat and MSC software or 3rd party CAE products software to efficiently simulate your problem. This may include establishing new testing methods specifically adapted for composites, establishing procedures for ideally building composite material models, customizing numerical algorithms or features, adapting post-processing methods to specific problems, and correlating models to test.
